Team 5412

Picture
We are a team of 8 boys ranging in age from 10 to 14.  Most of us are on our first FLL team, except for Dean who is on his 2nd year with E-Bots.  We have decided to tackle the contamination issue of food and are concerned with the trays and plates people use to take their food out to the BBQ.  It is very important that the plate/tray used to go out with raw meat is not the same one used to bring in the cooked meat.  If the raw meat going out is contaminated in anyway it will contaminate anything that is placed on it when it is cooked.  This will lead to people getting very sick and having tummy aches, possible vomitting and if it is bad enough, even death!
We designed a tray to carry meat out to the bbq and a tray to carry meat in. Attached to this tray is a place for reusable themometers to test the temperature of the meat and know when it is done.  The trays have high sides iwth a small lip on them so the juices cannot spill out on to other food items and are contained within the trays. The trays nest so they don't require much storage room and they are identified with raised words on the bottom, cooked and uncooked, no chamce to make a mistake!
